Learning Outcomes 5 & 6

My chosen Chosen Work Sample shows my ability to cite sources because I used a total of four sources, all cited in the correct MLA format. I used the format of: Author’s last name, First name. “Title of the piece.” Publisher, URL. For example, one of my sources is as follows: Chu, Madelyn. “What I’m Learning.” UNEportfolio, https://mchu.uneportfolio.org/what-im-learning/. Accessed 6 April 2020.  My in-text citations are also in MLA format, following the form of (Last name) at the end of the sentence. Usually you would need the page number with the last name like this (Last name, page number) but my sources did not have page numbers. One part of the MLA format that I forgot in my first draft but added to my second is my last name and the page numbers in the upper right corner of the header, seen on every page.

My chosen Chosen Work Sample also shows how I make local revisions to address my typical errors because I changed the structure of confusing and choppy sentences between my drafts and the final essay. For example, in my introduction paragraph I reordered a few sentences to make it flow more. In the following paragraph, I changed the beginning of my paragraph to make more sense to the reader and allow for flow between my sentences. For example, I changed this sentence: “Almost every person discussed what their family and friends mean to them and not being able to see them as often as they would like to is very challenging.” This sentence is confusing and it sounded awkward reading it out loud. I changed it to say: “Almost every person discussed what their family and friends mean to them and how them not being able to see their loved ones have proven to be difficult.” In my opinion, the sentence in my final essay is clearer than that same sentence in my draft.
